At 0011 on July 7, a civilian reported seeing flames coming from a building while driving on N. Triphammer Rd in the Town of Lansing. CHFD was automatically dispatched to assist and responded with Engine 202, Engine 203, and Ladder 231. Lansing Chief 1162 arrived on scene to confirm a single story structure fully involved in fire. The building was commercial/industrial and presented possible additional combustible risks. Engines 202 and 203 engaged the fire from the front of the building while Ladder 231 staged in the flank for defensive operations. Law enforcement shut down the roads leading to the scene. The fire was brought under control within an hour. Lansing and Cayuga Heights firefighters stayed on site for several more hours to fully suppress any remaining fire and prevent rekindling.
In addition to Lansing and Cayuga Heights, responding agencies included Bangs Ambulance, NYSEG, Office of Fire Prevention and Control, State Police, and Tompkins County Sheriffs.
